Eco friendly ICE!!!

May 20, 2009
A new generation fire-fighting was born with Japanese scientists to say it is going to be more sufficient. Now that fire extinguisher could become an old method in fire fighting, there is a new technological path for this super ice ready to fight out of control fires. The conceptual idea was to eliminate carbon dioxide being present in ordinary fire fighting and test a new method using carbon dioxide hydrates, frozen water crystals as well as CO2.

Having used a special reactor under the laboratory conditions, scientists have discovered that the produced pellets of carbon dioxide hydrates uses less water than common ice with less amount of carbon dioxide than dry ice could produce.

Dell's New 2100 for Students!

Aiming to enhance the facilitation of low-cost laptops to schools, Dell has just announced the Latitude 2100, a Netbook specifically targeted to educational markets. I think its gonna appeal more than the students in the classroom.

The basic components: Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, Windows XP--highlight being the chassis of the Latitude 2100. Its cool funky and designed with young users in mind who want to make their impression. Its has an optional touch screen!

With Dell doing good with its Mini 10 series, the new Latitude 2100, harbors traditional netbook internals, with kid-friendly perks like colorful lids and a rugged rubberized design, along with options for a carrying handle, shoulder strap, antimicrobial keyboard, touchscreen LCD and a Dell Mobile Computing Station docking cart. The netbook is going to be available with options for Vista, XP or Ubuntu 8.10, and the base configuration retails at $369

Also watch out: - Dell has announced a new netbook, the Inspiron Mini10v, a similar model to the company's previous offering, the Dell Mini 10.

World's Thinnest LCD - LG

Give way to the world's thinnest LCD, at a thickness of only 5.9mm, LG unveils its new 42- and 47-inch models.

It uses an edge-lit light emitting diode (LED) backlight system that allows it to achieve a thickness of just 5.9mm (0.2 inches), LG Display said in a statement.

The world's second biggest LCD maker said the product weighs 6.1 kg (13.4 pounds) and 7.3 kg, about half as much as a conventional panel.

'The displays can reproduce a rich range of natural-looking colours with a colour saturation level of 80 per cent,' it said, adding the televisions can eliminate motion blur and boast full high-definition resolution.

Executive vice president Chung In-Jae said the new products demonstrate 'our leading edge-lit LED backlight technology that enables thinner designs.' LG Display and local rival Samsung Electronics have led the global flat panel screen market and are now competing to produce thinner panels for high-definition televisions.

Storm 2 Unofficial information?

You might remember that our original story about the follow-up to the Storm mentioned the inclusion of Wi-Fi and a new easier typing system called 'TruePress'. We are told that the device in the picture does come equipped with Wi-Fi. As for changes in the typing, you might not see any changes based on the snapshot, but then again, it might be too subtle a difference to see in a picture. We can tell that the four buttons on the bottom have become touch sensitive controls compared to the actual ones on the initial version of the handset. Some of the controls on the right side of the phone are different and a little sleeker in design. Although our original article referred to a 5MP camera, the photos show a 3.2MP shooter like on the original model. We are told that the Storm 2 runs faster and smoother than its predecessor. No launch date or pricing has been discussed, although the early word is to expect this out in time for the 2009 holiday season.

Blackberry New Store - App World

These days on your new rim phones after you set it up, App World should appear on your phone's home screen. You will see a well organized ranking of "Top Downloads" or alternatively you can also search for a program by selecting a magnifying-glass button.

Sources have it that Rachel Colley (from Rim) wrote in an email that "more than 1,000" programs are available.

Currently programs are going through a review process from App World, but once through it its not long before newer applications start appearing.

Although App World falls short of the standards set by the iPhone and Android application stores, and it takes a few distracting seconds to load and display, but its still is a major improvement over what Rim offered previously.

So watch out iphone and androids, Rim is catching pace slowly and steadily and whats more important, business users are beginning to appreciate the new services of what they used to trade off before.
